lyrics

Changing, eventually
Means so much to me
Adding some bitter-sweet
Combining the energies

Drowning and balancing
The evening when it dawns on me
The chances are in between
My dreams and my reality

All i have is a word
And a regular chord
I just wanna be heard
I just wanna be heard

Look at the little seeds
Growing so eagerly
It’s so new to me
So inspiring

Pretty melody
Come , come and visit me
You’re not a remedy
Just a friend i’m happy to see

“Not A Remedy,” the second single from iogi and Rejoicer’s collaborative EP Too Much Too Soon, is about as human as dance music gets. “All I have is a word, and a regular chord,” sings iogi. “I just wanna be heard.” It’s a feeling we all know, set to a slippery soundscape of undulating synths and strings, and an infectious, bouncing bassline. iogi calls the track “stream of consciousness songwriting,” one of five songs he and Rejoicer built from scratch in a free-form Los Angeles studio session in 2019. But really, “Not A Remedy '' is deeply conscious — capturing iogi’s desire to communicate and connect. “If I have trouble saying something, it comes out in a song. My voice is my instrument, and my outlet,” he says. Streaming onto a dancefloor, it’ll get you nodding to the beat, and nodding because you know.
